Phase 1 of the Provocations Track @ SloMoCo
Phase 1 of the Provocations Track at SloMoCo took place from March 1- May 30, 2021, and involved an open call for provocations, ongoing exchange via the provocations channel on Discord, a curated video series with past provocateurs, and an online discussion featuring a a 'lightning round' of provocations. You can view documentation from conversations and events that emerged as part of this phase below!
The call for provocations on the question of what escapes computation in interactive performance? remains open on a rolling basis, so you can submit anytime! We also invite you to join our ongoing discussions via the Provocations Channel on the SloMoCo Discord server, which will traverse all three phases of the Provocations Track from March to November 2021. Email us for an invite link: email@example.com. Stay tuned for details of Phase 2 in late August!
As part of the ongoing Provocations Project, this curated conversation series builds on an open call for provocations in response to the question of what escapes computation in interactive performance? Based on the growing collection of provocations, three or four ‘provocateurs’ have been selected for each episode to read their provocations through one another, exploring points of convergence and divergence in authorial, disciplinary, and cultural perspectives. This event is the culmination of Phase 1 of the Provocations Track at SloMoCo. Following an introduction to the ongoing Provocations Project, fifteen 'provocateurs' take part in a lightning round of provocations, in which they make a brief statement and pose a question on the theme of: what escapes computation in interactive performance?
